The Youtube channel SciShow has made a great video on the little-known origins of asbestos and its uses thousands of years ago.

What is now considered more than a demonized nuisance was once the great miracle mineral of the old ages! Documented cases of the health problems stemming from asbestos date back thousands of years.

According to this short video, one could surmise that the “banning” of asbestos in the United States was brought on not by the dangers of the mineral, but rather as a punishment by the Federal Government against the companies that produced the product at the time. We’ll leave that up to you to decide.
